Mission
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of injury or death to children. The GGSC is dedicated to providing children and families with ongoing access to child passenger safety education and car seats to reduce unintentional injuries and death in our service area. GGSC is made up of Child Passenger Safety Technicians and Instructors who actively support child passenger safety efforts in our community. Technicians work and live in Gallatin, Park and Sweetgrass Counties. Within these Counties GGSC maintains 10 permanent fitting stations where families can get help with car seat installation and education. We serve a cross section of Montana families, most of whom come from mid to low income households. We have a 90% misuse rate for car seats and often meet families with no car seat at all.
Who We Are
On average the GGSC tech’s check installation of about 350 car seats a year.
In 2017 GGSC distributed 60 car seats to families in need.
Our local instructors teach the 32 hour National Child Passenger Safety Technician course every year resulting in 10-12 new CPS Techs each year.
