Strengthening the CircleA Native Nonprofit Leadership Program Strengthening the Circle aims to build the capacities of experienced and emerging Native nonprofit organizations that are working to improve economic development, education, and social services on or near reservations. This Native Nonprofit Leadership Program consists of a four-day workshop for forty executive directors and Board members with follow-up training and technical assistance. Interested Native executive directors and Board members are encouraged to apply. The next Strengthening the Circle gathering will take place in Bozeman, Montana in April of 2014. The application will be posted in January of 2014.
STC is open to Native nonprofit organizations in Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, Oregon, North Dakota, South Dakota, Washington, and Wyoming. Every year, we receive more applications than we can accept into the program. Preference is given to Native nonprofit organizations that are currently providing services. Travel, lodging, instruction, and materials will be covered for Native nonprofit executive directors and Board members that are accepted into the program. In addition to the four-day training session, each participant will receive a Program Guidebook, resources for board development, fundraising and tribal youth program planning, twenty hours of consulting or coaching, and ongoing support through your peers. Graduates of Strengthening the Circle serve as mentors. Collectively, these leaders have built stronger organizations with more resources to positively impact Native youth and families. Strengthening the Circle is made possible with generous support from the O.P. and W.E. Edwards Foundation, the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, the Oro y Plata Foundation, and the Sample Foundation. Program partners include the Seventh Generation Fund, Artemisia Associates, and WolfStar Productions.
